This coffee comes from the Chelchele washing station, which is in the village of Chelchele, in the district of Kochere, within the Yirgacheffe region. Chelchele coffees tend to have a nice backbone of sweetness from toffee and/or soft nuts like almond, with a floral and citrus overtone. These classic notes are the reason we love Ethiopian coffees so much and why they make great coffees for both espresso and filter roasts.

Of course the finest examples of washed Ethiopian coffees almost always come from high elevations thanks to thinner air and mild temperatures which allows for slow ripening and higher concentrations of fructose sugars.
We look for fruit, florals, ample sweetness and a clean bright flavour with enough caramel and nut to hold its own in an espresso roast.
