Our first Burundi offering for the calender year. A sound coffee with good complexity of flavour and a sprinkling of fruit character.

The Rugoza Washing Station is in the town of Muhanga, in Kayanza Province. The trading center for Rugoza is located in Maramvya, about 2 kilometers from Rugoza. There are about 1,200 producers who contribute to Rugoza Washing Station, 150 of whom deliver cherry directly and another 1,000 more who use eight different local collection points.

Unlike other coffee-growing regions such as Central and South America where landholdings are slightly larger and coffee-centric resources are more available, most producers do not have space on their property or the financial means to do their wet- or dry-milling. Instead, the majority of growers deliver cherry to a facility that does sorting, blending, and post-harvest processing of day lots to create different offerings.
