Frequently Asked Questions

Why 400 gram bags?

Since most of our orders need to be posted, larger bags help you save on postage costs. It also gives you longer to really get to know the coffee.

Do you have any Fairtrade or Organic coffees?

As we explain on our coffee page, we DO focus on sourcing coffees that have been produced ethically. Our approach to delivering better prices to coffee producers sustainably is to work closely with farmers and suppliers to improve crops, and to reward quality. This is what we mean by the term "direct trade". Our goal is to source all of our coffee this way.

Fairtrade and organic certification are well-intentioned but problematic. See this recent study from the University of Hohenheim, for example.

Do you ship to PO boxes?

Yes! However, our payments are processed by PayPal who won't accept PO boxes for security reasons. You'll need to give us your PO box address manually - either by contacting us or by typing it into the "special instructions" box (on the screen before Checkout). You'll also need to type a non-PO box address into the PayPal section.

I live near by, can I pick up the coffee?

Certainly! We have a "local pickup" option which is, of course, free.

I ordered [product X] last month, why isn't it available any more?

Our coffee page explains a little of our approach to coffee offerings. Green (raw) coffee eventually goes stale (like any other crop), so we only offer it while it's in season. Luckily, different coffees are harvested at different times of the year, so there will always we something fresh and delicious on offer.

Feel free to contact us if you particularly liked a bean/blend - we should be able to recommend an alternative that's in season.
